Transitional Housing by BOLM
Transitional housing is the next step for those coming out of homelessness at Bread of Life Ministries. This service began in 2002 with a single unit of transitional housing at 155B Hospital Street, on the same property as the homeless shelter. It has now expanded over the years to 4 transitional properties comprised of 17 individual units as described below. Clients may stay in a transitional housing unit for up to 2 years. While in transitional housing, our clients can continue to receive additional services from Bread of Life Ministries, such as Case Management, Life Skills training and education, and career assistance.
Our transitional housing properties include:
- 155B Hospital Street: A single family 2 bedroom home, located on our shelter grounds. A security deposit is required and utilities are included. This unit holds a project-based voucher. All applicants must be verified as homeless.
- Orchard Street: There are three, 3 bedroom units. A security deposit is required. Heat and hot water is included and tenants pay their own electricity. All three units have project-based vouchers. All applicants must be verified as homeless.
- Boothby Street: There are nine, 2 bedroom units. Monthly rent is based on 30% of the tenant’s income. A security deposit is required. All utilities are included; however, there is an electric allowance of $40/per month. Any overages will be charged to the tenant. All applicants must be verified as homeless.
- Crosby Street: There are four, 2 bedroom units. The current monthly rent includes utilities and a security deposit is required. Vouchers accepted include BRAP, STEP or Housing Choice/Section 8. All applicants must be verified as homeless.
